Where’s Your Faith

Now in the thirty-nineth year of his reign, Asa became diseased in his feet. His illness was severe, yet even in his disease he did not seek Adonai but physicians. Finally Asa slept with his fathers, dying in the forty-first year of his reign. He was buried in his own tomb, which he had hewn out for himself in the city of David. They laid him in his resting place, which was filled with sweet spices and various blended perfumes and they made a very large fire for him.
~2 Chronicles 16:12-14 (TLV)

I want to take some time and talk a little more about and build on what I started in my article Addicted: In Bondage To The Food, Drug, And Medical Industries. In that message I presented a series of evidence leading to what appears at worst to be facts and at best the possibility of a great conspiracy to make people sick in order to trap them in a system that makes a few people extremely wealthy at the expense of the general population.

In another recent message I put out titled Out Of Egypt → Into Babylon, which I believe may be one of the most important messages I have put out, I illustrated how the ways of the city and all the splendor they present are the opposite of the will of God for your life. Now, let me be clear, it is not my intent to start of a bunch of conspiracy theories or some kind of religious cult. While the type of information I am presenting in messages like this can be taken and used for that purpose, my intent is simply to lead people on the true path of biblical faith. I do believe that those who read these messages in context with my other messages and how all of this harmonizes with Scripture will see that these are not meant to give birth to any sort of fanatical fringe group.

In the opening passage from 2 Corinthians we find a very peculiar scenario play out. Asa was a king of the Southern kingdom of Judah during the period following the split of Israel and Judah into separate kingdoms. The Bible does not tell us when he was born or even how old he was when he took the throne, but there is are clues to at least approximately how old he may have been when he died. His grandfather was Rehoboam, to whom the division into the northern and southern kingdoms of Israel and Judah are attributed, and he died at 58 years old. His father, Abijah king of Judah, took the throne in the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam I of Israel. Then we are told in the record that Asa took the throne in the twentieth year of Jeroboam’s reign, so the reign of Abijah lasted only between two and three years.

These facts would lead us to conclude that Asa was relatively young when he took the throne. However, while there are accounts of kings who began their reign as children, we cannot conclude with certainty that this is the case with Asa. What we do know, however, is that he reigned as king forty-one years, so he was likely still relatively young when he died considering that his grandfather was only 58 years old when he died. The record leads to the strong assumption that he died from an illness, though it does not actually specifically state that.

In the record we see a troubling fact: Asa became ill with a serious and severe disease that affected his feet, or at least that’s where it started, and he chose to place his faith in the hands of physicians instead of trusting in Yahweh: his Creator, his Father, and his God. This begs the question for Believers in Yahweh today: Who are you placing your trust in regarding your health?

The Hem Of His Garment

Faith 1Just then a woman, losing blood for twelve years, came from behind and touched the tzitzit of His garment. For she kept saying to herself, “If only I touch His garment, I will be healed.”

But then Yeshua turned and saw her. “Take heart, daughter,” He said, “your faith has made you well.” That very hour the woman was healed.
~Matthew 9:20-22 (TLV)

Here we have an example of someone who did the opposite of king Asa. Mark’s Gospel tells another part of this story, saying, “And there was a woman with a blood flow for twelve years, who had suffered much under many doctors. She had spent all that she had without benefit; instead, she grew worse.” (see Mark 5:26) Having tried everything, she found out about the Messiah, Yeshua, and decided to place her faith in the only one that can ever truly bring healing.

Notice, also, that in this account the woman had spent all she had in order to receive the care of doctors for twelve long years, and not only did it not help but it actually got worse. Now, I want to make something very clear before I continue on with this message. I am not opposed to doctors or medical care. There is a place for them in your life and everyone should have access to a doctor when needed. Not everyone is able to do that all the time, so if you have the ability to see a doctor you should be thankful. There is a lot of benefit, as they are able to do tests to find out if something is wrong. They are also able to do tests and verify it when God heals you of something. I want you to keep this in mind, because I will be presenting some very strong statements during this message.

My issue is not with seeking medical care, but with what you do after you are diagnosed with a particular condition. There is entirely too much evidence showing the corruption within the medical industry, as well as the food and drug industries, indicating that these are systems developed by the spirit of Babylon to keep you in bondage.

A few years ago some routine blood tests showed that I had a low level of Vitamin D. What did I do? I ordered a Vitamin D supplement from a distributor that deals with natural, organic, and kosher vitamins. That was partly because practically all Vitamin D supplements on store shelves are in gelatin capsules, and gelatin is made from pigs, but also because the dosage I was recommended by the doctor did not seem to be available in stores. The point is, I got the results from tests done by the doctor, and then I took my health into my own hands.

I wish I could give you a better example, but what’s interesting is how, other than the Vitamin D deficiency, my blood tests always seem to come out showing that there is nothing wrong. I believe this is due primarily to obedience to the Word of God through faith. I should also mention that one of the top testimonies I have received from those who have connected to this ministry is that they stopped eating pork and shellfish and started receiving a healthy diagnosis from their doctors as well.

So, back to the woman in from this passage of Scripture. She had a serious condition and the doctors couldn’t resolve the issue, and seemingly they made things worse. This doesn’t surprise me, if the doctors of that time were trapped in a system similar to today’s medical industry then perhaps they wanted her to get worse. It’s a sad reality, but your doctor wants you to be sick. If you are sick they can “treat” you, and that results in them getting paid. There would be no doctors if there were no sick people.

Now, let me address something else from this passage. There is a belief that the “hem” of Yeshua’s garment being referred to here is the tzitzit (fringe/tassel) on the corner of his tallit (prayer shawl). In fact, some of the more Hebrew-focused Bible translations like the Tree Of Life Version record this in Luke 8:44, “She came up from behind and touched the tzitzit of Yeshua’s garment. Immediately, her blood flow stopped.”

While this all sounds good, there seems to be no conclusive evidence that this was actually the case. Yes, Yeshua was a Jewish Rabbi and very likely wore a tallit. It is entirely possible, and quite likely in fact, that this woman really did touch the tzitit from the corner of a tallit that Yeshua was wearing that day. However, we must always be careful about what we present as fact. When it’s all said and done, we don’t need to over-spiritualize this passage and insist that this was the “tassel” of a “Jewish prayer shawl” that the woman touched to obtain her healing any more than we need to make bogus claims that Easter eggs come from a ceremony where eggs were dipped in the blood of children sacrificed to Ishtar, or that Christmas trees symbolize… ummmm… male genitals (yes, there really are people teaching that), in order to prove that we shouldn’t be celebrating pagan holidays when God gave us bigger and better Holy Days in His Torah.

Don’t get me wrong here, I personally have chosen to believe that it was the tzitzit of Yeshua’s tallit that the woman grabbed hold of. However, that is a personal belief that is irrelevant to salvation, and I would always teach it as theory and personal belief. Be careful of those who teach things as cold, hard facts when there is no actual evidence to support their claims.

What is a fact is that the Bible records that this woman gave up on doctors, placed her faith in the Healer, and she was delivered from her infirmity. This is directly in contrast to king Asa who gave up on God, placed his faith in doctors, and died.

A Rigged System?

Faith 2          As is still fresh in the minds of many Americans, while campaigning for his term, now President of the United States Donald J. Trump spent a lot of time declaring that the “system” was rigged against a guy like him. He touted himself as the hero of the regular American, and as wild as his antics were at times, they apparently worked because he won the race and became the 45th President of the United States.

Regardless of your feelings about President Trump, and regardless of whether or not there was a real conspiracy against him, I do believe that there is a rigged system. But it’s not the rigging of Presidential elections that I am talking about.

In my aforementioned article Addicted: In Bondage To The Food, Drug, And Medical Industries I went into a lot of detail about some of the ways corporate food makers, prescription drug manufacturers, and the medical industry have developed into one large system that preys on the population. Let me reiterate what I have said in the past, I am absolutely not saying that this is a conspiracy. It could be a conspiracy, or it could be simply a series of bad decisions that have snowballed out of control. Either way, the average citizen is the victim of an out of control system that is set against them and benefits those at the top.

Freelance author and journalist Murray Carpenter’s most recognized work is a book titled Caffeinated: How Our Daily Habit Helps, Hurts, And Hooks Us. In this literary work he addresses many of the problems with caffeine, including some of the ways it negatively effects human health. In it he provides the following statements based on research done by John Hopkins Medicine’s R.R. Griffiths, Ph.D.:

As he got further into his dedicated research on caffeine (which started out as a way to better understand other drugs of abuse), Griffiths began to see that the blending of caffeine into colas had striking similarities to the nicotine in cigarettes.

He said the dialogue shifted with the recognition of the significant health risks associated with smoking. It was not the nicotine addiction, per se, that brought the issue to head, but the health risks that came along with the addiction. As obesity rates have risen and smoking rates have declined, the former has replaced the latter as the greatest risk to public health in the United States. The link between obesity and sugary soft drinks is well established. In 2012, Harvard researchers writing in the New England Journal of Medicine had this to say: “During the past 30 years, the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages has increased dramatically. Compelling evidence supports a positive link between the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and the prevalence of obesity have more than doubled since the late 1970s.”

These obesity rates carry a hefty price tag in health care costs, much of it funded by taxpayer dollars through Medicaid. One estimate put the medical costs of obesity in the United States at $147 billion in 2008.

Carbonated soft drinks are worth $77 billion annually in the United States. The nation’s top-selling soft drinks … have just one thing in common aside from carbonated water. They are all brewed with powdered caffeine.

Caffeine is so attractive that American bottlers blend more than ten million pounds of the addictive powder into their soft drinks every year. It is a tradition more than a century old, but still hidden in the shadows of American commerce.

Much like some of the points I made in my previous article on this topic, this presents us with a clear pattern of behavior that creates a guaranteed moneymaking machine. People can repair a car and keep it running, they can patch up the home they live in, but when they are made sick by the so-called “foods” that are pushed on them they are literally forced to seek medical care where they, in way too many cases, are prescribed drugs or surgery to resolve the situation. Then, if that isn’t enough, these drugs and surgeries almost always have some type of side effects that require additional medications. As Carpenter points out, this creates a multi-billion dollar industry that people get trapped into, and it starts with the foods you are eating.

Here is a plain fact: If you would follow the guidelines of Torah, written by the Creator of all life, you would avoid most if not all of these things and you would not become a slave to the Babylonian system of cities, governments, corporations, technology, and greed. God Himself tells us this – promises us – in His Torah:

“If you diligently listen to the voice of Adonai your God, do what is right in His eyes, pay attention to His mitzvot, and keep all His decrees, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have put on the Egyptians. For I am Adonai who heals you.”
~ Exodus 15:26 (TLV)

Let me take this a little further for you. Ted Broer, a research biochemist and nutritionist who has authored a number of books promoting health and wellness from a biblical viewpoint, put out a book titled Maximum Solutions For ADD, Learning Disabilities, And Autism. In the opening paragraphs of the book’s Introduction he says:

Drugging schoolchildren has become a multimillion-dollar business in the United States. In 1998, the U.S. National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) predicted that ten million American school children would be taking psychiatric drugs for one reason or another by the year 2000! Although the NIMH hasn’t confirmed whether or not this gloomy prediction came true, a research report in the Journal of the American Medical Association said that prescriptions of stimulants to two- to four-year-olds has increased 300 percent.

The big business of drugging school children is booming as never before! In November 1999 the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) issued an alarming statistic that confirmed from the “supply side” of the equation what the World Health Organization had warned us about: There was a six-fold increase in Ritalin production between 1990 and 1995, and America is the biggest user – pardon me for my lack of political correctness – the biggest consumer of Ritalin in the world. We use or “consume” approximately 90 percent of the world’s Ritalin! (And most of it went into our kids.) Our country is using a great deal of this incredibly dangerous drug, and a lot of drug companies are making a lot of money.

Allow me to put all of this into much simpler terms for you. The corporate “food” companies create these highly addictive products using substances like caffeine and sugar, so they get you hooked on them. The products they get you hooked on are designed to destroy your health. Then the doctors diagnose you with some crazy disease or condition and prescribe you something. What they prescribe you relieves the symptoms but in most cases does not actually cure the problem, and in many cases it creates new and sometimes worse problems. This means that they get to prescribe you additional drugs and medicines to mask the symptoms of the new problems, but not actually cure them. Before too long you are a slave to the doctors and the drugs they prescribe. All of this makes the people controlling it very rich and leaves you wallowing in a life of sickness and poverty.

Have you ever been in line at a grocery store watching the person in front of you with two shopping carts piled to the top with groceries and then it’s time to pay they hand the cashier one of those government issued food stamp cards? I know a lot of people who get upset about this; people who work hard and earn a paycheck and can’t even fill one shopping cart. But take a look at the “food” piled up in those carts. Most, if not all, of it is heavily processed garbage that has absolutely no nutritional value and unclean things like pork products. What’s happened is these people are not “working the system” like people think, they are the very ones being worked over by the system. They believe that they have to stretch that “free money” – which is not free, tax payers are the ones paying for it – so they buy the cheapest “food items”, which are not free at all, and they become test subjects. Government programs like the Food Stamp Card or WIC are basically the Babylonian system paying you to become their science experiment. That doesn’t mean it’s necessarily wrong to use them if you qualify for them, just be sure that you are using them to buy foods that are in harmony with Scripture and God’s will for your life and your health.

People are sick and dying, but practically every food commercial you see on television is pushing pork and shellfish on people. We know the effects of smoking, but the cigarette companies still troll the airwaves promoting their deadly product while close to 500,000 people a year die from cigarette smoke. Chemical concoctions that destroy your body are being promoted as “energy drinks” and made out to be the greatest invention of our generation. What must our Father be thinking of all this?

Let me ask you a serious question: Do you really think that this is God’s will for your life?

But it doesn’t have to be this way. You can simply live according to the Bible and be free! And if you really believe that the God of the Bible is the Creator of all life and if you really believe that the Bible of the God is His Word pertaining to all life, than your faith would produce obedience to the Bible. It’s just that simple.

Divine Healing Is NOT God’s Will

Faith 3          There is something I want you to think about. The next time you hand your child a soda or some piece of candy that turns their mouth blue, think about it. The next time you are about to eat bacon for breakfast or lobster for dinner, think about it. The next time you’re feeling sluggish and grab for that energy drink, think about it. The next time you want to freshen your breath with chewing gum laced with aspartame or toothpaste filled with fluoride, think about it. Whenever you are about to put something in your mouth or give your child something that is designed to addict you and send you to the doctor, think about what I am about to tell you.

Divine health is not and never will be God’s will for your life. Sadly, much like the corporate food, drug, and medical industries, preachers have also made fortunes pushing something that has never truly been the will of God.

Now, don’t misunderstand me, I am not opposed to divine healing or faith healers in Christian ministry. As long as there are people bound to sickness and disease there is a need for healing, regardless of whether that comes from trained physicians or faith healers. Who better to receive a healing from than The Healer? Isaiah 53:5 is clear that healing is a provision of our Messiah when it says, “He was pierced because of our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities. The chastisement for our shalom was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.”

With that said, I maintain that divine healing is absolutely, positively NOT the will of God. Divine healing is a provision of God’s mercy on humanity’s ignorance, but it is not His will. Divine healing is an act of God’s grace, but it is not His will.

So what is the will of God for your life? Divine health!

As I already mentioned from Exodus 15:26, if we simply obey the mandates of Torah then He will ensure that none of the diseases of Egypt afflict us. If all you have to do to live in the will of God is obey the Bible, then why is this so hard?

Is it really difficult to eat more raw fruits and vegetables? Is it really a hard thing to stop eating unclean things like pork, shellfish, catfish, rabbit, or whatever other things Leviticus 11 prohibits? Is it really a challenge to buy natural and organic foods instead of heavily processed garbage that has little to no nutritional value to your body? Is it too seriously too strenuous to drink water instead of soda?

Unfortunately, today most Christians are stuck on whether or not something is a “salvation issue”. First of all, anyone who rejects a commandment of God or a general principle of God’s Word on the basis of deeming it “not a salvation issue” is probably not even saved. People who are truly saved don’t ask that question, they do what the Bible says.

However, there is a clear argument to say, at the very least, that the matter of eating unclean animals is a salvation issue. In Leviticus 11 the King James Bible uses a word to describe eating unclean things: ABOMINATION. In the Tree Of Life Version it uses a different word to describe it: DETESTABLE. Now consider what the Bible says will happen to people found abominable or detestable.

But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
~ Revelation 21:8 (KJV, emphasis added)

But for the cowardly and faithless and detestable and murderers and sexually immoral and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars—their lot is in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.
~ Revelation 21:8 (TLV, emphasis added)

I want to point out something else as well. In “New Testament” passages where the word “clean” is used in reference to food, it is the Greek word “katharos”. This word, in reference to food, means: “without admixture, unmixed, without undesirable elements”. When you study this a little further it appears that it would apply to anything that is not meant for human consumption and destructive to the human body. In other words, it doesn’t really matter whether or not soda, heavily processed factory foods, man-made chemical additives like artificial sweeteners, artificial colors, and artificial flavors, or anything else that is unnatural and destructive to your body is directly prohibited by Torah. If something is not clean – free from unnatural admixtures and undesirable additives – then it is a detestable abomination. And the abominable/detestable will have a place in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone.

Before you are quick to say that I am going to far with this, ask yourself this question: “What if I am wrong?” Think about it, if you are wrong and decide to ignore the warning, continuing to eat and drink destructive things, you are gambling with Revelation 21:8. Why would you want to roll the dice on that when all you have to do is eat what God said to eat and refrain from things that are plainly called detestable and an abomination in the Bible?

I Don’t Believe That Part Of The Bible!

Faith 4          Would you believe that I have actually had people listen to me talk about the need to obey the Torah commandments regarding diet and say, “Well, I don’t believe that part of the Bible.” This is something that some people have seriously told me in the past. I am talking about people who regularly attend Church and openly profess faith in “Jesus” as their “Lord and Savior” (people who think like this generally don’t seem to even know the correct name of our Messiah, Yeshua).

Allow me to present something to you:

My brothers and sisters, if any among you strays from the truth and someone turns him back, let him know that the one who turns a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.
~James 5:19-20 (TLV)

Notice that this verse starts off by addressing “brothers and sisters” and says, “if any among you…” What James is saying here, if you stop to think real hard about it, is that the sinners – the soul being saved from death – is in this case an individual among the Believers in Yahweh. He is not talking about sinners in the world who have not accepted Yeshua as their Messiah. He is talking about Believers! You can be a Believer, active in your Church, reading you Bible every day, and still be a sinner on a path to hell.

There are two words found throughout that Bible that most who claim faith in Yahweh are almost certainly familiar with on some level: Believer and unbeliever. Most have interpreted these as pertaining to whether or not a person believes on some level in Yeshua, the Son of God, and the work of the cross. This, however, cannot possibly be what it means. Consider James 2:19 (TLV), which states, “You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe—and shudder!” If being a “Believer” were simply a matter of believing in Yahweh or Yeshua then every devil in the world today is also saved and has a place in heaven.

Mark 16:16 says, “He who believes and is immersed shall be saved, but he who does not believe shall be condemned.” Allow me to give you a very plain and simple definition of an “unbeliever”: Someone who does not believe something. That’s it! If you do not believe, you are an unbeliever. So, when you hear someone say something like, “Well, I just don’t believe that part of the Bible,” that person is simply an unbeliever. It’s really that simple.

It doesn’t matter if they profess a belief that Yeshua is the Messiah, or if they claim to believe in the Creator God who made Heaven and Earth. The Bible is God’s Word, if you don’t believe something that is written in the Bible then you don’t believe in the God of the Bible. You might believe in a god that is very similar to the God of Scripture, but the god you believe in is NOT the one true God. The Bible plainly says that those who commit sin will perish in a place of great torment, a lake of fire, for all eternity. If you really believe the Bible, you would be tearing through every Bible you can get your hands on looking for anything and everything you could possibly obey. You wouldn’t be saying “I don’t think that’s a salvation issue,” or, “I just can’t see God sending anybody to hell for eating bacon for breakfast, a ham sandwich for lunch, or lobster for dinner,” if you really believe the Bible is the truth and the actual Word of the God of Creation.

How can you possibly claim that you believe in God if you don’t believe something that is written in the Bible? Faith in God is synonymous with believing and obeying His Word. If you truly believe His Word you will obey His Word.

What this means, very simply, is that if you break the Sabbath (which is not Sunday, but from sunset Friday evening until sunset Saturday evening), you are an unbeliever. If you eat unclean things like pork, shellfish, catfish, rodents, sharks, birds of prey, scavenger species, etc., you are an unbeliever. If you don’t celebrate the Holy Feasts of Yahweh, you are an unbeliever. If you wear a mixture of wool and linen clothing, you are an unbeliever. If you do anything that is contrary to the Word of God, anything that violates Torah, you are an unbeliever.

This is not legalism either. Legalism has nothing to do with obeying what is actually written in the Bible. Legalism is one of two things: 1. Legalism is the act of creating man-made laws and then placing them equal to or greater than the Torah, or 2. Legalism is when Biblical commandments are presented as a way to earn or maintain salvation. Let me go briefly into that second one for a moment. You do not earn or maintain salvation by obeying Torah; you obey Torah as a result of really being saved. If you are capable of reading a commandment in the Bible and not obeying it, you are not saved. True salvation always produces a response of obedience to what is commanded in the Bible.

What is faith? Faith is the active response of obedience to the Word of God. If you believe, in faith, that God is God, and you believe, in faith, that the words recorded in the Bible are the Words of God Himself, then you would obey every instruction in the Bible. If you don’t, then you show that you don’t truly put your faith in Him or His Word, and that classifies you as an unbeliever.

Why would you place your faith in the Babylonian system if you are a true Believer in Yahweh? That’s what corporate industry is, you know. Hospitals, factories, governments, laboratories: These are all part of the Babylonian system where men strive to create a way to push the need for God out of the picture. From the ziggurats that man built to replace nature as the source of provision in the early Mesopotamian cultures to the latest in technology to produce some new food product designed to get you addicted to it and then wreck your body so you need to seek the false gods of men, everything this world is offering you opposes the will of God for your life.

True Faith

Faith 5          The late Maria Woodworth-Etter (1844-1924) was one of the most notable pioneers of the early Pentecostal Christian Movement at the turn of the twentieth century. In a question and answer session she was asked a series of questions about doctors and medicine. These are recorded in a volume titled Maria Woodworth-Etter: The Complete Collection Of Her Life Teachings. Allow me to present some of these questions along with her answers to you:

Q. Are not medicines recognized in the Word of God?

A. Yes. Let us read how it recognizes them. “Thou hast no healing medicines” (Jeremiah 30:13). “In vain shalt thou use medicines” (Jeremiah 46:11). “A merry heart doeth good like a medicine” (margin, “to a medicine,” showing that the merry heart is better than the medicine, Proverbs 17:22). “And the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine” (Ezekiel 47:12). This latter reference does not mean any material remedy but is prophetical of the Tree of Life and divine healing. (See Revelation 22:2.) Thus we see the Word of God places no intrinsic value upon medicine.

Q. Is not the ministry of physicians for the body designed of God, the same as the ministry of the Gospel for the soul?

A. No. The greater portion of the physicians of the land are ungodly people, many of them professed infidels, and were never designed of God to administer drugs and poisons to anyone; much less to the people of God, whose bodies are the sacred temples of the Holy Spirit. “The Lord [is] for the body” (1 Corinthians 6:13). The ministers of the Gospel are the ministers for soul and body. “And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where” (Luke 9:6). “And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following” (Mark 16:20).

Q. Was not Luke spoken of as the beloved physician?

A. Yes (in Colossians 4:14) but this does not signify that he was practicing after he went into the gospel work. There is no record, nor the slightest intimation, that he did. It was evident that he was present with Paul at Troas where the young man Eutychus was restored to life. However, there is nothing said about Luke interfering with any medical suggestions. He was called the physician in this reference, very likely because of his former profession.

Q. But is not the ministry of physicians recognized in the Bible?

A. Yes. Let us read how it recognizes them. “But ye are forgers of lies, ye are all physicians of no value” (Job 13:4). “And Asa in his thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not the Lord, but to the physicians. And Asa slept with his fathers” (2 Chronicles 16:12-13).

He died.

[Here is another Scripture that refers to physicians:] “And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse” (Mark 5:26). These scriptures show that the Bible gives no very favorable recognition of physicians.

Q. But do you not think we ought to employ a physician and then ask God to bless the medicine?

A. No. That’s not God’s way of healing; furthermore, it is a question to many intelligent and scientific people as to whether good or evil results from the use of poisonous drugs and medicines which are so regularly used today.

Q. Should a person who cannot seem to get the blessing then go to taking medicine?

A. No. He should get nearer to God and wait upon Him in importunity until his faith brings the blessing.

Q. What! Do you mean to say there is no healing virtue in medicines today?

A. According to many of the medical authorities there is not. Whatever benefit there may be in them, there is evidently much more harm done by their use than there is good. Dr. J.B. of Boston, an eminent physician and believer in divine healing, in writing about the blind faith of people in the use of patent medicines, says: “But to be faithful, I must also warn you against the use of drugs by physicians. Narcotics, sedatives, stimulants, tonics, quinine, antipyrine, and hundreds of others are injuring brains and nerves, stomachs, and livers, bringing on heart failure, and doing far more harm than good.”

Q. Would you advise every child of God to trust God alone for healing and health?

A. Certainly, for this is God’s way. It is what He desires us to do. “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man” (Psalm 118:8). It honors Him to get in line with His divine plan, and it is a great spiritual benefit to everyone.

Q. But would not such a position, if every child of God take it, affect the practice of many Christian physicians?

A. Well, yes, it might affect it somewhat, but we are not responsible for that. And then there will always be plenty of sinners and unbelieving Christian professors who will always furnish employment to every reliable and worthy physician; we shall always feel grateful if there does prove to be a worthy physician who may be a blessing to those who know not the way of the Lord.

Q. Does the Bible teach us that God intends to be the healer of His people without the use of medicine?

A. Yes. It nowhere recommends or commands the use of medicine with prayer and faith.

Let me make a few comments on these questions before moving on. Unlike in Maria Woodworth-Etter’s day there are laws and regulations in place today. Ministers are not free to tell people to stop using medications or to ignore the advice of a doctor without consequence. So if you are reading this message, I do hope that these questions and answers charge your faith, but at the same time I am absolutely not advising anyone to stop using any type of prescribed medication. That is between you, your doctor, and Yahweh your God.

While I agree with her stance against drugs and medicines, and believe that her points about them generally making things worse for you by treating your symptom and at the same time creating other symptoms or side effects, I also realize that modern medicine has come a long way since the turn of the twentieth century. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should take whatever pills your doctor tries to give you. But there are a lot of natural medicines being formulated today that are proving beneficial to people as well and don’t pose the same amount of risk as pharmaceutical drugs.

With that said, what Woodworth-Etter has demonstrated with her answers to these questions asked about a century ago is a picture of true faith. Regardless of what you think about the boldness of her replies, the level of faith she taught here is something we simply do not see in the world today.

I have heard it said that faith is simply knowing God. The truth in that statement, however, can only be embraced when you realize that the only way to truly know God is to truly know His Word. Today and seemingly throughout the history of the world the masses have chosen to ignore the Word of God and simply listen to the opinions of religious leaders. The result is that the people don’t really know God so they cannot have faith.

Despite the time and effort I spend researching to present teachings like this, those who read my work can never know God without reading the Bible for themselves. But you also have you know how to read the Bible. It’s a strange thing, you know. When you realize that the Bible is a Hebrew book written by Hebrew people living in Hebrew culture about the Hebrew God and you begin to read it with that understanding, you find out very quickly that so much of what Christianity has taught for hundreds of years is completely wrong.

Is Christianity Bad?

Faith 6          Sure, there are a lot of things that Christianity has gotten right… except for one major problem. Despite being theologically correct in so many things, the very fact that Christianity has presented these truths without the Hebraic understanding that the Bible is founded on even those truths become error. This is because tainted truth becomes a lie.

I was reading one of Martin Luther’s works a while back, I believe it was his Treatise On Christian Liberty. Now, I am sure many know where I stand on Luther, particularly such racist anti-Semitic works as On The Jews And Their Lies. However, as I was reading it I kept thinking: “Man, this is amazing! If only this man understood the Scripture from a Hebrew perspective. If only this was not written by the same man who wrote some of the most hateful things ever written against the Jewish people.” Then I thought: “If only the people who read some Luther’s works, like this one, would read it from the perspective of a first century Hebrew Believer in Yeshua Messiah.”

You see, like so many other Christian leaders in the 500-year history of modern Christianity following the Protestant Reformation, Luther actually did write some good stuff. I would never endorse Luther specifically, but he did actually make some contributions that are worthy of reading, if read from the mindset of a first-century Hebrew follower of Yeshua.

It is sort of like what I recently heard Joseph Shulam, a Messianic Jewish teacher out of Israel, say regarding the late fourth-century/early fifth-century Roman Catholic Bishop Saint Augustine. Shulam said, “I’m quoting St. Augustine, who wasn’t such a good saint. He actually waited to be baptized until one hour before his death because he knew he couldn’t keep himself out of the sin that he was a part of, out of his temptations. So, Christians call him a saint because he wrote beautiful things. He wrote beautiful things about God and beautiful things about Christ. But essentially, if you read pagan literature about Buddha, if you read about Muhammad, if you read about any god, what can you say about God? Even if it’s a false god, if it’s an idol. You can praise him, you can thank him, all these wonderful meditations you find to any god. So Augustine wrote these things, but in essence his life didn’t reflect it. He wrote beautiful things but his life didn’t reflect it.”

My point is that Christianity and Roman Catholicism contains a lot of truth, but that truth is simply masking the lies. I’ve often heard it said that, “a partial truth is a whole lie.” And the most deceptive lie is the one that contains the most truth without being the whole truth. I fear that Christianity may have become that very thing.

Please understand I am not at all opposed to Christianity. There are those who teach similar messages to what I do, who are part of a movement that has been labeled “Hebrew Roots”, that think Christianity is the most evil thing on the face of the Earth. While I use the term less and less to describe my faith, preferring to call myself a Believer in Yahweh, a follower of Yeshua, and a recipient of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit), I also plainly recognize that I am a Christian. The term Christian, at it’s base, simply means that you are a follower of Yeshua the Messiah and is typically defined as “Christ-one” indicating someone who is “like Christ”. It comes from the word “Christ” which is the English transliteration of the Greek “Christos” meaning “the anointed one”. This is the same thing as the Hebrew word “Meshiach”, which transliterated to “Messiah” in English, and where we get the companion word to “Christian”, which is “Messianic”. So, there is nothing wrong with being Christian or calling yourself a Christian if you actually know what it truly means to be a Christian.

To better understand what it really means to be a Christian – a Christ-one – let’s take a look at a particular passage of Scripture. John 2:5-6 (TLV) says, “But whoever keeps His word, in him the love of God is truly made perfect. We know that we are in Him by this—whoever claims to abide in Him must walk just as He walked.” It becomes difficult, however, to walk just as He walked when you are presented with a false image of who He was. In my article Jesus vs. Yeshua I presented a comparison between the true Messiah Yeshua and the counterfeit Jesus that has been created by Christian and Catholic religion.

On May 16, 2000 rap singer Eminem released a song that reached the number four spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and earned a Grammy Award where he asked the question: “Will the real Slim Shady please stand up?” While I do not recommend his music… at all… I do think that it’s time for Believers to start asking a similar and much needed question: Will the real Yeshua Messiah please stand up? You see, the real Yeshua seems to be trapped in a “Where’s Waldo?” portrait of counterfeits where we need to search Him out among a multitude of fake “Jesuses”.

Fortunately, if you have a Bible and a bit of common sense it becomes quite easy to find the real Yeshua. But finding Him is not the greatest challenge. The real test is what you do after you find Him.

If we are going to walk as He walked we need to know who He was. Yeshua, in His time on Earth in the flesh, was a Torah-observant Jewish Rabbi. What that means, very simply, is that He lived by Torah and He taught Torah.

Now consider what the Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 11:1 (TLV), “Be imitators of me, just as I also am of Messiah.” Paul takes it one step further here. So, who was Paul? A simply reading of the Book of Acts reveals who Paul was: He was a Torah-observant Jewish leader from the sect of the Pharisees. Many refer to Paul as a Rabbi, though it is not completely clear whether he ever held this title. However, since “Rabbi” simply means “teacher” we can in good conscience call Paul a Rabbi.

So we have the Apostle John telling us to walk as Yeshua walked, and Yeshua was a Torah-observant Jewish Rabbi. Then we have Paul saying to follow him as he follows Messiah, and Paul was a Torah-observant Jewish Rabbi who was following the Torah-observant Jewish Rabbi Yeshua exactly as John said we should. So how is it then that Torah-rejecting Christians think that they are doing what the Scripture says? The sad reality is that they are not. But the ‘Good Gospel News’ is that you can, and it’s really, really easy to do it too.

In my message Is Torah Bondage? I presented an argument that the 613 instructions of Torah can be broken down into about 17 categories, give or take. It’s debatable. Some time ago I was listening to a message from a Pastor by the name of Gary Simons. If you have not heard of him, you have most certainly heard of his brother-in-law, Pastor Joel Osteen. But Simons’ message is quite different, as he has embraced a Torah-observant focus in his ministry.

In this message Pastor Simons explained that if you give a child 10 house rules to follow and they break 2 of them, you don’t need to talk to the child about the 8 they obeyed, only the 2 they didn’t. The same is true about the Torah. Many people act like the only thing Torah-based ministries talk about is the Dietary Laws, the Sabbath Day, and the Feasts of Yahweh. Well, those are primarily the only things from Torah that modern-day Christians are rejecting!

What this means is that if you are a Christian who really loves God and wants to do His will completely, there is a good chance that the only thing you need to do is change your diet to conform with His Word, stop working on the Sabbath Day, and trade pagan holidays for God’s Holy Days. That’s it! Sure, there may be a few minor details that need to be worked out on a case-by-case basis, but those seem to be the three biggest areas of concern in modern Christianity. So it’s not hard, you just need to take a good, hard look at yourself in the mirror of the Bible and ask yourself if you truly love God. If you do, then you will obey. The only reason many Christians are not obeying those things right now is because nobody has told them they are supposed to.

So where’s your faith? Is your faith in man? Is your faith in doctors? Is your faith in government? Is your faith in drugs and medicines? Is your faith in corporate industry? Is your faith in technology? Is your faith in the system of Babylon?

Is your faith in God, His Word, and His provision for everything you need within the natural order and design of His Creation?
